The acting Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics PCBS Announced that about 32 thousand citizens have migrated to live outside Palestinian since 2005 to 2009. The announcement came during a workshop held in the headquarters on Monday to announce the results of a first survey of migration in Palestinian in 2010. Moreover, the representatives of ministries, public and private institutions, universities, research centers and stakeholders presented it.
Awad Said: The results of the survey showed that young people were the most who migrate to outside Palestinian compared to other factions. Therefore, third of migrants are 15-29 years old and about 26% of them were 30-44 years old. However, the proportions of male immigrants were more than females by 152 male immigrants there were 100 female immigrants. She added: that Jordan was a greater destination for them. For example if there 100 migrants, 24 of them immigrate to Jordan, 20 of them immigrate to Gulf States and 22 immigrants to United States.
She explained that one third of them immigrate to study, while the main motivation for 15% of immigrants were to improve the standard of living, and 14% of them were for lack of employment opportunities. Also, 5 to 7 thousand of Palestinian return back to it during the last five years.
She added: ' the proportion of returnees during the period (2000-2009) was decrease and that was a period of the second Palestinian uprising and it has seen a wide range of incursions by Israeli occupation forces for most of the Palestinian Authority areas. Nevertheless, about 37% of the returnees were 15-29 years old, while the percentage of returnees who were over 60 years old 9%, and 6% who were under 15 years old has returned. She added: 'The survey results indicate that more than one third of the returnees came from Jordan and make up about 43% of the total of returnees and about 29% of them returned back from Gulf countries.
Also, it showed that the Gulf countries were the destination of most Palestinian wanting to migrate at a rate of about 23% by 15-59 years old. While, 15% of them wish to migrate to America, about 28% want to migrate to other foreign countries and 18% of them were not specified or decide any States that wish to immigrate to it.
Finally, the results showed that more than three-quarters of individuals (15-59 years old) who do not wish to immigrate said that they feel comfortable in Palestinian and it is a blessed land.
