extinction and regional language

UNESCO takes languages seriously and it has taken an interest in endangered languages. It has prepared an interactive atlas on the web that shows these languages and the level of risk. The Atlas divides the degree of risk to five levels and each level has a separate color that appears in the map as a code for these languages as the following:

1- Vulnerable (white color, at risk)
 2- Definitely endangered (yellow color, at risk surely)
 3- Severely endangered (orange color, at risk with high degree)
4- Critically endangered (red color, at risk seriously)
 5- Extinct (black color, extinction)

UNESCO Atlas shows that there are eight languages in Oman at risk of extinction in three colors or levels. The colors of the danger (not including the black so far) are as follows:

1. The Language of Alkimzariah: the number of speakers is 1.700 people and it is in orange color level so it is means at risk with high degree.

2. The Language of Alzadgaliah: the number of speakers is unknown and it is in red color level so it is means seriously at risk.

3. The language of alKhojah which is also called " Alwatiah Language and the estimated number of speakers is between 7000 and 12000.Moreover, it is in orange color level so it is means that is at risk with high degree.

4. The Language of Alharsusiah: the number of speakers is between 3500 and 4000. Moreover, it is in yellow color level so it is means that is at risk surely.

5. The Language of AlBathariah: the number of speakers Almost 400 people and it is in red color level so it is means that is seriously at risk.

6. The Language of Alshariah or Aljabaliah: the number of speakers is about 5000 people and it is in red color level so it is means that is seriously at risk.

7. Alhobiot language: the number of speakers is unknown but almost 400 people, and it is in orange color level so it is means that is at risk to a high degree.

8. The Language of Almhariah: the number of speakers is 100 thousand people, and it is in yellow color level so it is means that is at risk surely.

Finally, the government should take care of these languages and try to maintain it before becomes in the list of extinction and it is the responsibility of government to makes the people aware about the importance of these language and it includes our culture.
